Extreme Makeover Home Edition - DeAeth 5 of 5

Aired - January 29, 2006

Animal lovers Dale and Melanie DeAeth of Washington, Texas, who started the True Blue Animal Rescue organization, and their three children, Jessica, Cory and Colton, will have their own home rescued by Ty and the gang.

The DeAeths are the first people the Texas law enforcement calls when they find abused and neglected animals. Their True Blue Animal Rescue organization provides a safe haven to horses, dogs and other animals that need loving care -- and it's run out of their own home!

While both parents have been working full-time jobs in addition to rescuing, nurturing and adopting out animals, they've neglected their own house, which is literally falling apart! The DeAeth home's foundation has shifted, the walls are cracked throughout, and termites have invaded.

Since they started True Blue Animal Rescue, the DeAeths have taken in over 90 dogs and 40 horses -- many of which are now living full lives in adopted homes. But they still have 30 dogs and 15 horses on their property and several cats that are in temporary foster homes. Between vet costs and nutrition, this family is in need of rescue themselves.

This family is so busy that everyone pitches in to help the animals in the evenings and on weekends, and each child has his/her own rescue dogs with their own special story. Melanie also helped take in and rescue animals left homeless in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and took horses and dogs back home with her to adopt out. In this episode, the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team heads to a Texas ranch to take care of the family who've worked hard to end animal abuse and neglect by taking care of so many of our furry friends!

While Ty and the gang, along with the hundreds of workers and volunteers and local builder Stylecraft Builders, Inc., transform their house into a comfortable and safe home and animal shelter, the DeAeth family will go on vacation to Palm Springs.

The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will feature team leader Ty Pennington, Tanya McQueen, Michael Moloney, Ed Sanders and Eduardo Xol.

What would I do, If I Were Brave?

Posted on Oct 27th, 2007 by Heart Love Heroes : "most likely to save the world" Heart Love Heroes

If I Were Brave
 by Jana Stanfield

What would I do, if I knew that I could not fail?
If I believed, would the wind always fill up my sail?
How far would I go? What could I achieve,
trusting the hero in me?

If I were brave, I’d walk the razor’s edge,
where fools and dreamers dare to tread.
I'd never lose faith, even when losing my way.
What step would I take today, if I were brave?

What would I do today, if I were brave?
What would I do today, if I were brave?

What if we’re all meant to do what we secretly dream?
What would you ask, if you knew you could have anything?
Like the mighty oak sleeps, in the heart of a seed,
are there miracles in you and me?

If I were brave, I’d walk the razor’s edge,
where fools and dreamers dare to tread.
I'd never lose faith, even when losing my way.
What step would I take today, if I were brave?

What would I do today, if I were brave?
What would I do today, if I were brave?

If I refuse to listen to the voice of fear,
would the voice of courage whisper in my ear?

If I were brave, I’d walk the razor’s edge,
where fools and dreamers dare to tread.
I'd never lose faith, even when losing my way.
What step would I take today, if I were brave?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 13, 2007:

To all Mothers Past, Present and Future….

I bow at your feet in gratitude
I adorn your neck with a ring of perfumed delicate blossoms
I offer you an embrace full of love, invitation and appreciation
I kiss each blushed cheek with presence of your preciousness
And I rain cheers of sparkling praise and joy like confetti!

Dedicated today and all days to Moms, Mamas, Mothers, Mums, Mommys, Ammas, Madres, Mamis (however that is expressed through us and throughout the world ;-)

No Babies Please!

Posted on Mar 8th, 2007 by Heart Love Heroes : "most likely to save the world" Heart Love Heroes

C R I T T E R   F I X I N G . . .

Thanks Dr. Bob, aka Critter Fixer!  The barn kitties that we rescued months ago from danger, malnutrition, parasites and flea infestation.... are healthy, happy and now, harmless (to the increasing pet population).

According to the  Humane Society of the United States :  "Thousands of kittens and puppies are born every hour in the United States. While these baby animals are adorable, the fate of most of them is tragic. Spaying or neutering our pets and feral cats is the most effective way to reduce the vast numbers of animals who are born only to die prematurely and without a family who loves them."

Did you know? (we just learned this but we're younger than you ;-)
Over $2 BILLION is spent annually by local governments to shelter and ultimately destroy 8-10 MILLION adoptable dogs and cats due to shortage of homes.  - Business Wire Features

An estimated 6 - 8 MILLION dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters each YEAR.  MILLIONS more are abandoned, only to suffer from illness or injury before dying.  - Doris Day Animal League

Heartful Prayer Practice

Mindfulbell_sm

METTA
:
Loving-kindness. This quality is given special emphasis in Buddhism with its ideal of unselfish and all-embracing love. In the words of the metta sutta, just as mother would give her own life to save that of her child, so we too must cultivate loving-kindness for all beings.

THE SOUND OF SIRENS

We have a metta practice that was inspired by my mom's dog Costner (and Chloe learned to chime in too).

Whenever the moment arose and stretched through time with the sounds of sirens screaming by, Costner would stop, tilt his head and chin upwards and begin to howl.  He would stretch his body and hoooooowl out in harmony with em-er-gen-cy.  His beloved Chloe would always wait a few moments and then would chime in with some staccato yips.  Their song would not end until the last high-pitched whistling had dissipated.

As you can guess, Costner and Chloe would sing their song of compassion at any time of day or night, and in any condition....for in these moments they were steadfast in purpose and action
.  They were fully committed to their expression of heartful harmony with the sirens.

Before we were born my mom told us that, with Costner as her muse, she would stop and say a prayer of Compassion and Wellness for those who were helping and being affected by the emergency.  The sirens became a whirling bell of mindfulness.

Although Costner and Chloe passed away when we were itty bitty, we now remember them through this practice.  We first listened and now learned the "siren song" so that we can easily stop, sit up straight with hearts full and open, singing:

Om Mani, Om Mani
Om Mani, Om Mani
Om Mani Padme Hum

Om Mani, Om Mani
Om Mani, Om Mani
Om Mani Padme Hum

May you all be well and get the help that you need. We thank those who help others.

We'd love it if any of you choose to join us and stop at the sound of sirens and say a heartfelt prayer of compassion and gratitude!

~ Trinity and Treya
In loving memory of Costner, and Chloe
